County Clerks office
I just left the County clerks office in Jackson and I want to say, "Thank you to one of the nicest ladies in the office." I had an issue with a date on my notary bond and the lady who helped me, her name is Kathy, was very patient and through these trying times she certainly was professional and very helpful. I just want Kara Clark to know she has very courteous and helpful staff. Thanks so much!
Open America
The experts told us that the health care system would fail if we didn't shut down the country and now most hospitals are struggling, most are making cuts. Our politicians are telling what we can and cannot do. Small and large businesses are struggling and some will not make it. I do respect all of the scientists and medical experts, but thank goodness they were wrong. Now is the time for the American people to get back to work in the areas where the numbers are low. Let the people decide if they want to go back to work, go to restaurants, go to their doctors and get a haircut.
Defunding WHO
Trump in his infinite wisdom (not) wants a scapegoat and is trying very hard to make the World Health Organization the loser. But anyone who watched Trump's golfing and rally schedule from January through March of this year can see where his focus was at. Defunding WHO will only make the world weaker against the next pandemic and won't "fix" Trump's problem with optics.
Jackson football
Jackson football will be good again this year, and I enjoyed reading the article in this week's Missourian. I hope that high powered offense will show up in the big games this coming season instead of placing so much on our defense. The offense needs to get physical. Last year, we had a punishing running back that never let up and some nasty linemen, but we got pushed around and couldn't pass or get open against elite teams.
No blame
Nobody is to blame if someone gets the COVID-19 virus. Not the President. Not the Medical Professionals. Not the Government. Not even the individual who gets it. It is out of everybody's hand. It is a natural disaster, and so everyone is blameless.
Not leading
Have you ever noticed how many headlines about Trump start with "Trump lashes out?" That's because he doesn't know how to lead. He screams and yells but doesn't lead. He blames but doesn't lead. He insults but doesn't lead. He blusters but doesn't lead. He fires people who disagree with him but doesn't lead. He's made a shambles of the covid-19 pandemic response but doesn't lead. Why do we need four more years of this?
Education funding
Sen. Blunt announced that Missouri schools would receive over $200 million in Coronavirus aid. Why? Schools won't use it wisely, and they'll continue to copy and paste free games and lesson plans from the internet that they'll dress up as distance learning coursework. Give that $200 million to families who are educating and feeding children.
Cure worse
In 1920, America and the rest of the world went through the worst Pandemic in human history and still ended up having one of the most prosperous decades of the 20th Century afterward. Fast forward to 2020 we are facing a pandemic that is nowhere near as deadly as the one from the 1920s, but only this time governments, the media and the so-called experts from all over the world are doing their best to insure that there will be no prosperity after this one. Trump is right: "we cannot let the cure be worse then the disease."

Open America: Good comment caller. Open up by county or State as common sense dictates under the guidance of the Governors with the recommendations of the President and his Task Force.
Defunding WHO: Yea, the World Health Organization really did a great job of being China's puppet. Same WHO that said the Trump flight ban from China and South Korea wouldn't help and that the Virus wouldn't jump from animal to human - yea looks like the USA really got help from WHO....let China bankroll the organization for a while.

If people think that President Trump does not lead, you are sadly mistaken. we finally have a person in the White house that isn't a career politician and he understands how business works...thank goodness. We had 8 long years of a man in office that took his orders from George Soros and didn't have an original thought in his head. This country would have sank beyond belief into disrepair if this virus would have happened on the watch of Obama.

You do know that our country was slowly recovering from the Great Depression during the later Hoover years. And that the deepest part of the Depression happened in 1933 as a result of the New Deal and it actually slowed the recovery. The thing that helped the recovery was World War 2, in fact as the war came to an end the fear was the Depression would resume. The only reason that prevented that from happening was that President Truman, who was from the old Conservative wing of the Democrat Party and a New Deal skeptic, ended most of the New Deal programs as the war was coming to an end. Which resulted in the real recovery of the 1950's, the first prosperous decade since the 1920's.
In short Hoover is not the villian that he is made out to be. Just like FDR was not the hero he is made out to be. In fact if would of lived any longer he would of became a full on Dictator.

I know that. But the the deepest part of the Great Depression happened in the later part of 1933 under FDR. There was a recovery towards the end of Hoover's term and the beginning of FDR, which he inherited from Hoover. But FDR killed of the recovery in 1933 much like Obama killed off the recovery in 2009-2010. The reason the Great Depression was the Great Depression was because of the failed New Deal.

Rick.Scaggs maybe a simple timeline will help.
1929-The Market crash takes place, Harbert Hoover is President.
1930-1933-The beginnings of a economic recovery starts to take place.
1933-FDR becomes President, inherits the Hoover Recovery. FDR introduces the New Deal which led to the second crash of 1933 which was worse then the one in 1929.
1933-1939- The New Deal leads to stagnant economy that drags on the bottom for a decade. No economic recovery.
1940-1941- Preparations for possible entry into the war begins. Military spending begins. Artificial recovery begins.
1942-1945- After America enters the war military spending in ramped up. Artificial recovery continues throughout the war.
1944- During the 1944 Presidental election, the old Conservative wing of the Democrat Party rebels. This forced FDR to accept Harry S. Truman as his running mate.
1945- FDR finally dies. Harry S. Truman becomes President.
1946- Fearing a return to the Depression, Harry S. Truman ends most of the New Deal programs.
1946-1950- A small recession follows the end of the war.
1950s- The recovery finally happens as the United States enters the most prosperous decade since the 1920s.

My grandmother died in 1918 of the Spanish Flu leaving my then one-year-old mother to be raised by her grandparents. Between 500,000 to 800,000 Americans died between 1918 to 1920 of this flu.

That is true. The Spanish Flu is still recorded as the deadliest Pandemic in history. In fact fewer people will die from COVID-19 then died from the Spanish Flu.
The issue is with how both generations went about dealing with the situation. Not only did one Generation have to deal with major Pandemic, but had to rebuild after a major World War. Did they have to adopt safety precautions, yes. But unlike now they would never had thrown their society and economy under the bus out of fear, like what is being done today by our brothers on the Left.

Yes and No. The Spanish Flu killed it is estimated between 17,000,000–50,000,000 or more over a three year period. The Black Death killed it is estimated between 75,000,000-200,000,000 over the course of a century.
Most Historians consider the Spanish Flu the deadliest Pandemic in history because it killed so many it a short amount of time. But if you are looking at the deadliest Pandemic based on total deaths, yes it is the Black Death.
But if you want to look at the deadliest Pandemic by the devastation of a population. I would say that would have been the Small Pox Pandemic of the 16th to 19th centuries that decimated 80% of the native population of South and North America.
It really comes to what you are looking at. I was going by the shortist space of time. But you got a point there.

Rick, most have no idea of what the Plague was like in Europe. If you want to see what the aftermath of some of the devastation looked like go to this link. I have seen some of the areas that had human bones stacked up like cord wood. And some areas of Europe have graves for rental and when your time is up... up you come and the bones are placed in storage areas, again stacked like cords of wood.

Joseph have not seen the Paris catacombs, but from a museum in a Church basement in Vienna I saw a room or tomb that was out under the side walk where they had dumped bodies during the plague through a manhole above. This tomb had been excavated from the side and glassed in. You could see the skeletons in all kinds of shapes piled one on top of the other. A chilling reminder of how things were back in that day.
For just how things are remembered from that day, look up the history of the every 10 year presentation of the Oberamergau Germany Passion Play. It is still put on to this day and had to be canceled this year because of the Coronavirus. Was fortunate enough to get to be there for it 20 years ago.

A lot of people just do not have the coping mechanism that people used to have and are freely selling freedom for security. And these left wing politicians and the media are living it up.

Growing up on a farm one could learn self preservation pretty quickly. Knowing you had a bull in the pasture who could do 25 mph, you stayed out of his territory unless you were positive you could do 30 mph. And squirrel hunting was not a sport, it was a way to put fresh meat on the table. Lots of things were not not your friend, leave them be.

As for missteps, we could go back as far as you want.
Just in this year, he refused to recognize the problem in January.
From January 22 to March 10th he delayed and deferred taking action, but did send out about 20 meaningless "tweets."
He then declared he "took no responsibility" for anything. (Perhaps you recall when Presidents did not pass the buck.)

I see the old hindsight argument, the weapon of the second guesser and backseat driver.
First of all from September to February the whole
Government was distracted by little thing called the Impechment.
A lot the Intelligence information was raw, meaning that a lot of the
information was not complete enough to give a clear picture so we could have known how bad it was going to get at that moment. There is a concept called the "fog of war" in which takes place when a lot of things are happening at a single moment in time. As a result it is easier to see something clearer after the fact then in the moment it is happening.
In February President Trump created the Coronavirus Task Force. And in March in banned travel to and from China. So he did do something.
Plus, most importantly, nobody was prepared for this. That is why every country in the world is in the same boat as we are. President Trump did just as well and some cases better then other world leader. Did he did a do a perfect job, nope. But nobody would have been able to, not Hillary, no Obama, nobody.

This reminds me of something from when I younger. In the months and years after 9/11 attacks people tried to do this exact same thing to President Bush, so what you are doing now is not anything new.
There were people who claimed that Bush had the Intelligence in his briefings and that it "should" of let him know that 9/11 was going to happen. But in reality the clues could of only have given a clear picture in hindsight and that there was no way anybody could of known at the time and the lead up to the 9/11 attacks. Just like the lead up to the COVID-19 Pandemic.
Then others jumped on President Bush reading to a gourp school kids after hearing about the 9/11 attack as proof of him being a "bad leader". But just like those quotes you were presenting are examples of a President trying to promote calm and trying to prevent a panic. Which is what a good leader actually tries to do.
So you Liberals need to come up with new tricks. They are getting old.

Ice Cream Pelosi as everyone should know controls the House of Representatives only but with a 3 branch form of government she can hold up a bill just like Mitch McConnell in the Senate can. Then President Trump can veto a Bill passed by both sides of Congress unless 2/3 of Congress overrides his veto.
So Ice Cream Pelosi needs to get on her broom and fly to Washington to do what she is paid to do and not to obstruct just to keep Trump from succeeding - politics at it's highest form of ugliest.

Just Joe was someone who stole my identity. I do not know who it was, but I have since erased my secondary email account. I am not a Liberal and if I ever do find out who she/he/it was I will be sure to press charges.
They posted my personal information, including my home address on this forum. Something that I would never do. In case you where not paying attention, all the posts by that user has been deleted. That was because I spent a day trying to get the Southeast Missourian to take down those posts down.
Now I am trying to clear up what my true political position really are, and they are not what some fool pretending me claims them to be. And I will tell you something having someone steal your identity is not a fun experience, like putting my home address out there. Not knowing who may now know where you live. It is a really unsettling experience. So good day sir.

I thought the Left was irrational under President Bush. You know when they blamed him for everything from 9/11 to Hurricane Katrina. But at least they put on the act that they wanted to work together.
Now they are ramped up to 11. But are using all the same old tricks but just not trying to hide them like they used to. Distorting facts, ignoring facts that go against the narrative and straight up lying.
Like when I looked into the people who were pushing the Impeachment of President Trump. They where the same clowns who were pushing for the Impechment of President Bush. The only difference was there was little bit of sanity still in the DNC back then that prevented them from going of the cliff back then.

Just to change the subject. I’ve got $1200,$2400 with wife we don’t really need but appreciate. Being lambasted with appeals for donations we would like to do something but after the Haiti fiasco we are pretty gunshy. I don’t want to support that tent city going up in Cape. From the only poll that got the 2016 election correct, President Trump (doesn't that sound good Democrats) has a 46% approval rating and at the same time on Obama's first term his was 49% even with the biased news media behind him.

The sad thing is that you missed the point again. The fact that there were flu deaths during the Obama administration does not relieve President Trump of incompetence in handling this pandemic. His constant and repeated denials should never have happened.
The fact is he should have immediately started testing and /or tracking all individuals arriving from the west Pacific.
Of course that could have been difficult, but would have been smarter than tweeting fake claims through the middle of March.

The following was sent to me by a friend. The article is credited to Art Laffer. I could not find the article so take the article for what it is worth. I happen to agree with most of it.
Yes Goggle the words in the article are not mine but I think need saying and are civil.
The bottom line has been that President Trump is a jerk. He’s crude, he bloviates, over talks and inflates, he gets his feelings hurt and he’s a hot head. Also, he is not a great speaker or even an average one. He insults world leaders by telling them in public that they are not paying their fair share of NATO and the UNITED NATIONS. (But then they start paying more.) He tends to put blame on people, (some of whom do not deserve it. )
Let me tell you what else he is. He is a guy who demands performance. He is a guy who asks lots of questions. The questions he asks aren’t cloaked in fancy phrases, they are “why the hell....” questions.
He does not , does not have dementia.
He does not take a Salary.
He works 14 to 16 hours every day.
For decades the health industry has thrown away billions of face masks after one use. Trump asks, “Why the hell are we throwing them away? Why not sterilize them and use them numerous times?” He’s the guy who gets hospital ships readied in one week, when it would have taken a bureaucrat weeks or months to get it done. He’s the guy who gets temporary hospitals built in three days. He’s the guy who gets industries to build ventilators and face masks in a business by personally giving the CEO's a phone call. Highly regulated agencies that move like sleuths would never get more masks and ventilators.
He’s the guy who asks why we aren’t using drugs that might work on people that are dying; what the hell do we have to lose? In spite of all the naysayers. He’s the guy who shut down travel from China, when the liberals and the media were screaming xenophobia and racist.
He’s the guy who ran on securing the border in the face of a screaming press and media. When he shut down borders in the midst of the coronavirus virus they were up in arms over such a draconian move. Then the rest of the world followed suit all over, including the European Union between member countries.
He is the guy who has been working on getting industries back in the USA that are in China and other foreign countries. He is the guy who says, "America First," and is hammered for saying that. He is the guy who says, "why the Hell are we making our drugs and medical equipment in foreign countries."
Has he made mistakes, yep. Everyone I know would have. All of these experts wouldn’t have done any better. Trump is working harder than I’ve ever seen a President work. He isn’t hiding in his office, he’s out front every day.
Take for instance, all the shortages of PPE’s and ventilators. I’m unaware of anything that prevented all of these governors from ordering all the PPE and ventilators for emergency purposes over the last two years. And yet, it is Trump’s fault that they didn’t.
He’s balanced his approach and listened to the experts, when his detractors said he wouldn’t and couldn’t When he offers hope, he’s lying and when he’s straight forward, he should be hopeful. It’s a no win, but he is not deterred by all of that BS coming from the press and the liberals.
I’ll take this kind of leadership over a nice guy that can make eloquent speeches
He is the kind of guy who wiped out, using Executive Orders, thousands of government regulations that were strangling business. He is the guy who made mistakes listening to the Republican Speaker of the House instead of moving forward fast with a tax reduction bill, but he adjusted and pushed for a tax reduction bill which was one of the factors that caused great growth in the economy. Then he became the guy who saw many of his accomplishments vanish very quickly with a Pandemic that started in China and spread around the world. Yet he has risen to the occasion. At first he was very positive about the virus and tried to get the American people not to Panic by stressing the positive. Perhaps he should have been very negative about the death rates to come at his very first daily Pandemic briefing. Either way, they would have criticized what he said.
Sure, I would prefer a Ronald Regan type fellow for President, but we do not have that choice.
So, I will do what I can to help President Trump to get re-elected.
He may not make it. Instead we could have the first President ever elected going into office with visible and serious dementia. A so-called nice guy?
Now do not get me wrong. There is nothing wrong with the people who are having dementia. Millions of us seniors have it, and maybe most folks over 78 years old will have some form of dementia, but none of us should be President of the United States (do you think?).
So thank You President Donald J. Trump and may God Bless You and Your Family for all you are doing!

I have been looking into the history of the old House Un-american Activities Committee and despite revisionist history it's investigations were successful, example Alger Hiss. But I think a revived HUAC will also have to investigate the bureaucracy, people like George Soros, the media, Hollywood, Academia, even the world of social media. Rick I think what the President is trying to stop is illegal immigration, the kind promoted by the Leftists of this country who want to stack the voter roles with illegals from wherever they can get them. Hopefully Americans are smart enough to figure it out. We do not need any more illegals on the welfare roles in this country. Let the illegals remake their 3rd world hellholes they are coming from and leave us be. Mexico for an instance is richer in natural resources than we are but look at their standard of living. They allow a choice segment of their population to run the country and keep them in poverty. I have been in Mexico from north to South and have not seen any part of it I would want to live in. They need to throw their corrupt government out and change their own country.

Rick regarding the immigration issue, I have a distant cousin from Holland who tried for years to get a visa to come here and stay. She finally won the lottery and was accepted for Permanent residency, with a list of must do's as soon as she arrived. One of which was to get a Social Security Card and pay taxes when she went to work. She also had to show that she could financially take care of herself. I personally drove her to the Social Security Office and some other form of reporting office that I have forgotten. Why did she have to wait her turn, while some expect the borders, especially the Southern border to be open to any Tom, Dick and Harriet who wants to come across. I am 100% to making immigration fair for all who want to come here and abide by our laws. And I am 100% against the walk-ins, Swim-ins or whatever and from wherever. And being born here, making you a citizen is a particular kind of insanity that should be changed and now.

However; 2.5% is better than 2.3% and when using percentage increases you have to know that when numbers are low to begin with (Obama) and then you have an upsurge than that percentage is a larger one than a bigger number (Trump) compared to an upsurge....so your twist and spin doesn't hold water but good try.

DA, too many of the college edicated folks I have run into suffer from a superiority complex. And way too many were not the smartest people I have met.
My and my crews job was to correct some of the degreed engineers mistakes and report back to them how we corrected for them. The all time favorite response from a lot of them was, don't tell me, I'm an engineer.
DA on another note, I have not received my $1200 yet. You might check the first letter of the alphabet your last name starts with compared to mine and you can figure it out. Mine is V and I have stood either in back of or very close to in every line that has ever been invented. I should get my money about August. That way I won't get to use it as a down payment on next year's estimated tax bill.

DA, see what you started, I Post a reply saying I am going to use my stimulous money to pay on my estimated taxes, believe me it is not going to cover them, and Mister Lettau finds fault with that. I never claimed any socially redeeming quality in doing so, I merely stated that I was sending the money back and for what purpose. I still have to pay my taxes or they penalize me and still want the money. I don't think they stated that I could not use the stimulous monre to pay a government obligation as I stated. Wonder what upset Uly so much? Probably needs the money now. I would think he is working for a wage, salary or commission and has taxes deducted so doesn't have to worry about estimated taxes.. I don't have a job, my income is passive from investments I made while I was working instead of spending it as it came in.

It’s customary for Mr. VanGennip to be confused about political issues (for example misconstruing the Mueller Report). But it is unusual for him to be so muddled about a financial issue.
It’s pretty clear that if you receive a windfall coronavirus stimulus payment, it’s your money. You can use it for whatever you want. If you don’t want the money, you can send it back. That’s fine. You can also spend it to pay your taxes. That’s also fine. But you can’t do both, i.e. use to pay taxes and claim you’re sending it back. That’s what Mr. VanGennip seems to want to do. I’d suggest he’s wrong about that.
In my case, I’d mailed my Form 1040-ES (OCR) Payment Voucher # 1 prior to receiving the stimulus, so I can still decide what I want do. He’s wrong again. But don’t worry, I won’t bother you about this any more.

Many years ago I did some part time teaching in a trade school. Had a couple of students like him. Farmers always said you can take a horse to water but you cannot make them drink. Because Iran was excluded from the international banking system, a portion of their funds were returned in currency.
A portion of the arrangement was the 6 party agreement to prevent Iran from getting a nuclear weapon, that has foolishly been put on hold till next year.

I am not in a position to quote all of the ins and outs of why the United States froze Irans funds to beging with. But to me it sounds like you are a traitor to your country suggesting that we did it illegally. The part that was done illegally was Obama releasing those funds held with good reason and doing so without Congressional Approval. He was not our King. He wa an elected President with limitations on his powers as dictated by our Constitution.
I did find this from Wikipedia, which makes it appear that a US court order these seizures of Iranian funds and Congress passed a bill to implement the court settlement signed off on by Obama and later negated by Obama alone when he sent them the funds that were being held to guarantee a court ordered settlement against Iran.

I did not say that the freezing of assets was illegal. About $120 billion were in international accounts. The $30 to 50 billion were Iranian assets, not American money under Congressional control. There was nothing illegal about it

What are you trying to tell us Lettau that Obama had to pay Iran to get an agreement that he hoped would improve his image. It was not a treaty approved by Congress therefore it was unenforcable anyway. Obama was not given the right to make treaties without Congress and you know it.

A metaphor is a applying a word or phrase to an object or action to which it is not literally applicable. A good example is referring to a person as the “black sheep” of a family.

The 6 party members of the Iran deal or JCPOA, mutually and legally agreed to “unfreeze” a small portion of the assets as part of the deal. In return, the international community prevented Iran from pursuing nuclear weapons and Iran agreed to all terms including inspections.
Trying to link totally different and unrelated issues and call it a “metaphor” is questionable and unconvincing. Good try anyhow.

If you consider President Obama a Muslim, you're fabricating.
You take unconnected events, his mother was Christian, his natural father (who he never met) was Muslim, his mother continued to be a Christian, a stepfather (who died while Obama was a teen) was Muslim, Obama was raised as a Christian, he is a practicing Christian.
Only you decide to fabricate the lie, that inspire of overwhelming evidence to the contrary, he must be a Muslim.
Don't you realize how absurd your conclusion is?

Lots of Muslims in Obama's background - probably a Closet Muslim....wonder if his chef at the WH ever served pork as a meal. Maybe the chef will write a tell-all book later. You don't know for sure just like I don't know for sure but it wouldn't surprise me the least if Obama was a Closet Muslim.

County Clerks office
I just left the County clerks office in Jackson and I want to say, "Thank you to one of the nicest ladies in the office." I had an issue with a date on my notary bond and the lady who helped me, her name is Kathy, was very patient and through these trying times she certainly was professional and very helpful. I just want Kara Clark to know she has very courteous and helpful staff. Thanks so much!
Open America
The experts told us that the health care system would fail if we didn't shut down the country and now most hospitals are struggling, most are making cuts. Our politicians are telling what we can and cannot do. Small and large businesses are struggling and some will not make it. I do respect all of the scientists and medical experts, but thank goodness they were wrong. Now is the time for the American people to get back to work in the areas where the numbers are low. Let the people decide if they want to go back to work, go to restaurants, go to their doctors and get a haircut.
Defunding WHO
Trump in his infinite wisdom (not) wants a scapegoat and is trying very hard to make the World Health Organization the loser. But anyone who watched Trump's golfing and rally schedule from January through March of this year can see where his focus was at. Defunding WHO will only make the world weaker against the next pandemic and won't "fix" Trump's problem with optics.
Jackson football
Jackson football will be good again this year, and I enjoyed reading the article in this week's Missourian. I hope that high powered offense will show up in the big games this coming season instead of placing so much on our defense. The offense needs to get physical. Last year, we had a punishing running back that never let up and some nasty linemen, but we got pushed around and couldn't pass or get open against elite teams.
No blame
Nobody is to blame if someone gets the COVID-19 virus. Not the President. Not the Medical Professionals. Not the Government. Not even the individual who gets it. It is out of everybody's hand. It is a natural disaster, and so everyone is blameless.
Not leading
Have you ever noticed how many headlines about Trump start with "Trump lashes out?" That's because he doesn't know how to lead. He screams and yells but doesn't lead. He blames but doesn't lead. He insults but doesn't lead. He blusters but doesn't lead. He fires people who disagree with him but doesn't lead. He's made a shambles of the covid-19 pandemic response but doesn't lead. Why do we need four more years of this?
Education funding
Sen. Blunt announced that Missouri schools would receive over $200 million in Coronavirus aid. Why? Schools won't use it wisely, and they'll continue to copy and paste free games and lesson plans from the internet that they'll dress up as distance learning coursework. Give that $200 million to families who are educating and feeding children.
Cure worse
In 1920, America and the rest of the world went through the worst Pandemic in human history and still ended up having one of the most prosperous decades of the 20th Century afterward. Fast forward to 2020 we are facing a pandemic that is nowhere near as deadly as the one from the 1920s, but only this time governments, the media and the so-called experts from all over the world are doing their best to insure that there will be no prosperity after this one. Trump is right: "we cannot let the cure be worse then the disease."
