Speak Out: Pool

Posted by John35 on Thu, Feb 27, 2020, at 1:11 PM:

Why isn't the community asking for the resignation of Neil Glass and Jeff Glenn for the manipulation of voters over this issue? This will cost both the district and city hundreds of thousands of dollars in pool upkeep for many years. Glass intentionally placed this ridiculous pool idea - without specific plans or costs - on a bond issue vote that was sure to pass because of the needs of the two elementary schools. Where are the city leaders who were duped into supporting this project? They are pretty quiet now. These men need to be held accountable - this is not a little mistake. It was an intended manipulation that is going to be costly to residents.

Rehab the pool that Cape already has. If there is one built on the south side, add bullet proof windows to the cost proposal.

  • City folks spend as you wish but let the rest of us vote on area wide school district tax increases for education via swimming pools.

Eh, the ballot propositions languages for both the City and school initiatives didn't mention anything about a location or profitability, nor did either refer to any published document which spelled these things out.

Figure legally, taxpayers effectively cut a blank check, relying on honor, ethics, integrity, and credibility to bridge the gap between intent and results.

Remember past tanglings with an OSHA inspector, who shared that if it ain't wrote down, it never happened.

Also, can't remember ever successfully requesting a wad of capital monies for things not thoroughly hashed out, lacking detail of both scope and costs.

Perhaps a lesson to be learned the next time there is a tax increase or extension proposed.
