Speak Out: The "Sunshine Law". Should we just abolish it?

What we should maybe be doing is paying more attention to whether or not the Sunshine Laws are being adhered to.

  • Maybe the Sunshine Laws have changed and become more complicated (read, more full of lawyer-ly mumbo-jumbo which generally includes loopholes for administrators to utilize) over the past couple of decades, but ...

    They used to be fairly cut-and-dried, leaving little wiggle room for anyone to dance around with their own interpretations. It certainly didn't require 'lessons' to comprehend the law.

    Don't you just love the trend lately of people running for election gushing about their belief in 'openness and transparency?'
