Political campaign blog request formStarting immediately, the Southeast Missourian will no longer accept "submitted stories" from campaigns or from those advocating a vote for or against a particular candidate.Instead, we'll offer three avenues to use our website to communicate directly with voters. One is the free use of our blogging system. All candidates' campaigns -- as well as non-affiliated individuals -- are invited to set up a free blog on our semissourian.com website. A blog allows the campaign to spread its message and to interact with supporters and other users of our website. It is maintained by the campaign, with minimal oversight from us. It also provides simple connectivity to social media through our "share" buttons. Supporters can also post comments about candidates on any campaign blog entry, or start their own blog within the rules of the semissourian.com website. To set up a blog, contact co-managing editor Matt Sanders at 388-3652 or msanders@semissourian.com. Campaigns are also invited to take advantage of our paid election letters. Letters advocating for candidates are run in print and online through a pay arrangement. More information on paid election letters is available at https://www.rustcom.net/SEM/forms/paidle.... Campaigns can also submit campaign events to our SemoEvents calendar website. The events appear around-the-clock in a searchable online calendar and they'll appear in our print calendar leading up to and the day of the event. In addition, calendar submissions are shared with newsroom editors on a daily basis, so submitting items to the calendar also provides information for potential story assignments for our reporters. Matt Sanders can answer any questions about these tools. Fill out the form below to send a blog request to the Southeast Missourian. |
