Snow is likely, but accumulations are anybody's guess
Our chance of snow Saturday night has all but disappeared, but Sunday is looking much more interesting. The official forecast for Cape Girardeau has bumped the chance of snow Sunday afternoon to 60% and Sunday night to 90%. With temperatures dropping into the 20s overnight, we should be sitting pretty to see at least some accumulations. That's assuming, of course, that this thing doesn't turn out to be a total dud.
Projections from the WPC (using a combination of different computer models) show that we have a 40% probability of receiving at least 2 inches:
We also have a 10% probability of -- get ready for it -- seeing at least 4 inches. I'm not holding my breath, though:
No matter how much snow we find Monday morning, it will stick around for a couple days. The highs for both Monday and Tuesday are forecast to be around 30°F. It's not until Wednesday (high 44°F) that the snow will significantly melt. And then our next weathermaker arrives Thursday night, possibly bringing a wintry mix before changing to all rain on Friday.
Welcome to Novembruary!
