Snow still in the forecast
The computer models continue to show a chance for light snow this weekend. The NWS forecast calls for snow Saturday night, possibly changing to a snow/sleet/rain mix Sunday afternoon, and then changing back to snow Sunday night. During both nights, temperatures will fall into the 20s, so accumulations are certainly possible.
But don't get too excited: the total amount of moisture will be limited, so it's unlikely that we will get more than two inches (and we could easily get squat).
Nevertheless, it's still exciting to see the pretty colors on the computer model snowfall projections this early in the season. One recent run of the GFS model paints 1-2 inches for Cape Girardeau.
While it's too early to talk about a White Christmas, there's a strong possibility that we will have a White Deer Season Opening Weekend.
In a strange twist, Memphis has already beat us to the punch: they had a dusting of snow last night:
