Diehlstadt struck by EF-2 tornado

A preliminary storm survey by the National Weather Service reveals that an EF-2 tornado struck Diehlstadt in Scott County, causing three deaths. The same storm also produced 100 mph wind gusts over a larger area, damaging 52 homes. Below are two statements from the weather service about this storm:

* DAMAGE DETAIL......A SINGLE WIDE MOBILE HOME WAS COMPLETELY DESTROYED AND SCATTERED WITH THE UNDERCARRIAGE BLOW APPROXIMATELY 100 YARDS FROM THE HOME SITE. SEVERAL LARGE WAREHOUSE BUILDINGS WITH PARTIAL ROOF LOSS AND STRUCTURAL DAMAGE. SEVERAL TREE SNAPPED OR UPROOTED. FENCING AND SIGN BLOWN DOWN.

* DAMAGE DETAIL......52 HOMES DAMAGED WITH MOSTLY MINOR TO MODERATE ROOF DAMAGE. SEVERAL BUSINESSES AND A CHURCH DAMAGED (STEEPLE BLOWN OFF). NUMEROUS OUTBUILDINGS AND OTHER BUILDINGS DAMAGED. SEVERAL POWER POLES SNAPPED...MANY DOZENS OF TREES UPROOTED OR SNAPPED. IRRIGATION SYSTEM WAS TOPPLED.
