Here we go again (another Flash Flood Watch)
Our next storm system is on its way, poised to bring heavy rain tomorrow and Saturday. The weather service has already issued a Flash Flood Watch for Friday evening and Saturday morning.
Here are the rainfall totals projected by the national Hydrometeorological Prediction Center over the next three days:
We will likely see widespread 1.5 to 3 inch totals. Right now, we are still 1.4 inches of rainfall below average for the year, but that deficit could easily be wiped out in the next couple days.
Meanwhile, yet another system is already forecast to arrive with more thunderstorms and heavy rain next Tuesday and Wednesday. This one may put us well above average for the year.
In light of this merry-go-round of strong storm systems, perhaps we should start giving them names? This time, I'd suggest naming the storms after troubled celebrities. How does Severe Thunderstorm "Charlie Sheen" sound? Or Flash Flood "Lindsay Lohan"?
