Another round of ugly weather for Thursday-FridayPosted Tuesday, October 27, 2009, at 5:38 PM
If you thought today's steady rain was annoying, just wait for the next storm system. Here is the delightful Hazardous Weather Outlook from the National Weather Service in Paducah:
WIDESPREAD HEAVY RAINFALL AND SCATTERED THUNDERSTORMS WILL BE POSSIBLE THURSDAY...THURSDAY NIGHT...AND FRIDAY. SOUTHEAST MISSOURI..SOUTHERN ILLINOIS AND THE PURCHASE AREA OF WESTERN KENTUCKY WILL STAND THE HIGHEST CHANCES OF PICKING UP 3 TO 5 INCHES OF RAINFALL BEFORE ALL IS SAID AND DONE. IN ADDITION...A FEW THUNDERSTORMS MAY BECOME SEVERE OVER PARTS OF SOUTHEAST MISSOURI THURSDAY NIGHT...THEN EAST OF THE MISSISSIPPI RIVER ON FRIDAY. THE MAIN HAZARDS WITH ANY SEVERE STORMS WILL BE DAMAGING WINDS AND ISOLATED TORNADOES. The five-day precipitation forecast clearly puts us in the "red zone" for heavy rain:
