Top Secret Info About The Next iPhone
First of all I don't have any top secret info about Apple's next iPhone, but I will tell you what I do know and what my predictions are.
Apple has announced new iPhone hardware every June since the introduction of the device in 2007 with the exception of this year. (Original 2007, 3G 2008, 3Gs 2009, iPhone 4 2010) Rumors have been flying all year about what is to come and why Apple has chosen to break their cycle. One thing we do know for sure is that new hardware is coming soon along with the next version of Apple's mobile operating system called iOS5. Some say we will get a refreshed iPhone 4 called the iPhone 4s, while others speculate about a totally redesigned piece called the iPhone 5. A few say we will get both...
Several major news outlets have now pointed to October 4th as the day the new phone will be released. Even Apple board member and former Vice President Al Gore was quoted this week saying, "Not to mention the new iPhones coming out next month. That was a plug." He has served on the Apple Board of Directors since 2003, so he may have dropped the first real clue to when we will see new hardware.
Now for the official Technosaurus predictions for the next iPhone:
(Drumroll)
* It will have an 8 megapixel camera
* It will have the same dual-core A5 processor as the iPad2
* It will have a new radio chip set so that one phone can work on CDMA or GSM
* It will be available on AT&T, Verizon, AND Sprint but no T-Mobile yet
* This hardware release will NOT be 4G speed compatible (for several reasons)
* It will be the same size and form factor as the iPhone 4 (case makers will like this)
* There will be a 8GB version of the current phone that will sell for $99
* It will be available in a 64GB version (my personal dream for more storage)
Regardless of what Apple gives us, you can bet that it will be monster popular and the talk of the town.
