Thanks for helping make election night a successPosted Wednesday, August 8, 2012, at 10:59 AM
FRED LYNCH ~ email@example.com Cape Girardeau County Collector Diane Diebold announces election returns Tuesday, Aug. 7, 2012 at the County Administration Building in Jackson.
I didn't get much sleep last night, but that's typical for reporters and editors on an election night. And last night was a big one.
In our area, where the Republican party is quite dominant, primary elections are often bigger and busier than general elections, at least on the local level, which is where we primarily focus our efforts.
Last night was no different. Major legislative and county races all over the place: sheriff races in Scott and Bollinger, the 27th Senate, the 8th Congressional District, Cape Girardeau County commission, assessor and public administrator, just to name a few.
We hope we covered it well for you. If you're looking for all of our stories and results, just go to our elections page at http://semissourian.com/election.
Thanks for your interest in our coverage, and your participation in last night's live blog. We look forward to doing it again soon.
November is right around the corner.
