Readers submitting plenty of Cape Girardeau, Jackson fireworks photos

There was a time not so long ago when we thought there would be no fireworks on the Fourth of July in Cape Girardeau. We were told back in January that there could be no Libertyfest thanks to the bad economy. And Libertyfest didn't happen. But a group of veterans stepped up to make sure Cape Girardeau had a proper Independence Day celebration. And in Jackson, the show went on as always. Feel free to give your rating of this year's fireworks and how they compared to last year's. There are more photos from both shows -- submitted by our readers via email and by using our Your Photos tool -- posted in a gallery in our multimedia section. Other people have given us Independence Day photos without the fireworks -- photos of the Rev. Larry Rice and his event at Indian Park, of a historical re-enactment at Fort D and of a family trip to the beaches of Normandy. You can see more photos, and give us any you want to share, on the Your Photos page of our website. |
Matt Sanders, former arts and entertainment editor and reporter for the Southeast Missourian, was appointed editor of the paper's online operation in 2008. In his blog Extra Edition, he gives readers an extra dose of news they won't find in our print edition or elsewhere on our Web site, and gives them a glimpse of the operation of the new seMissourian.com.
