This morning we reported on a story (with the help of some of our sister papers near the Arkansas border) about the chief of police in Steele, Mo., being arrested and his office raided by the FBI, ATF and Bootheel Drug Task Force for alleged drug activity.
At an afternoon news conference, federal prosecutor Catherine Hanaway confirmed the federal complaint against Michael "Strawberry" Tomlinson. Hanaway said federal authorities have reason to believe Tomlinson was dealing hydrocodone and Xanax. Click here to read more about the arrest. Click here to see just where Steele is located — near the Arkansas border in Pemiscot County. We'll have more on the story later today and Wednesday morning, as well as video of the afternoon news conference. Comments Showing comments in chronological order [Show most recent comments first] |
Matt Sanders, former arts and entertainment editor and reporter for the Southeast Missourian, was appointed editor of the paper's online operation in 2008. In his blog Extra Edition, he gives readers an extra dose of news they won't find in our print edition or elsewhere on our Web site, and gives them a glimpse of the operation of the new seMissourian.com.

As most of you know, I lost my sister unexpectedly in January to an accidental prescription drug overdose. And while that grief and sense of loss are ever present, they have been overshadowed by a compelling need to make a difference. A need to do WHATEVER it takes to save someone else's sister or loved one from the suffering that my sister endured.
Please take the time to click on this link and read this memorial page. And if after reading it, you feel compelled to help make a difference----follow the directions at the bottom of the memorial.

Thank you so much for your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
Sincerely Yours,
