Morley is for music lovers

Posted Thursday, May 17, 2012, at 12:36 PM

Ever been to Morley? If not, check it out this weekend.

The Morley Community Betterment Association is hosting its second annual songwriters' festival this weekend. So why should you go? Check out this lineup of performers:

Bill Booth & Steve Clinton

Les Lindy

Fara McSpadden

Bob Camp

Don Greenwood

Jefferson Fox

Chris Moore

Dennis Gurley

Doug E. Rees

Bruce Zimmerman & Friends featuring Scott Bierschwal, Danny Rees, Ken Keller and Ralph MacDonald

Matt Erwin

Folks, that's one heck of a good time. And by the way, local celeb Neal E. Boyd will be the guest host. There will also be an open mic session. Free admission. For more information call Tim Fodge at 573-703-7103 or Karl Ketchum at 573-212-0016.

I also want to point out to everyone that the Western Swing Showcase at the Cape VFW Hall will run today, tomorrow, and Saturday. If you like a little swing with your country, give this a shot. Admission is $10, and all proceeds go to their scholarship fund.

One last note before I go; another music legend has died. Miss Donna Summer, known as the Queen of Disco, passed at 63. Some of her well-known singles include "Last Dance" and "She Works Hard For The Money." Somewhere, someone is dancin' up a storm just for her.
