Fun is a battlefield
Question: What do you get when you combine "Iron Man," "Iron Man 2," "Captain America," "The Hulk" and "Thor" on the big screen in one day?
Answer: Serious preparation for "The Avengers."
Tomorrow (May 3), you can find most of the heroes (and some of the villains) depicted in new Marvel release "The Avengers" in their individual films at Cape West 14 Cine during the Marvel Marathon. It starts at 12:15 p.m., and tickets are $37.75 to see all five movies. And no, don't expect to see Scarlett Johansson or her character Black Widow until you catch "The Avengers," which comes out this Friday.
Also of note is the Cinco de Mayo celebration at Buckner's Saturday (of course, or it wouldn't be Cinco de Mayo). The event will feature local pop-rockers Isabella, who have been very successful touring around the country and at St. Louis staple Pointfest. This will be their first hometown show this year, so get out and see them while you can. Find out more about Isabella at www.facebook.com/weareisabella.
Finally, don't forget to get to the area's art galleries Friday for First Friday with the Arts. Even if you don't consider yourself an "art enthusiast," it's still a great time. I go every month, and I'm always impressed with the things I see. Friday's SE Live will have a list of First Friday outings (along with a few other interesting tidbits), so be sure to pick up a copy.
Until next week ...
