Campaigning for full belliesPosted Thursday, August 30, 2012, at 11:50 AM
As I transition into a new beat, I will, of course, be writing about campaigns for office.
As a way to ease in, however, here is a campaign our community may want to know about.
The Boys and Girls Club of Cape Girardeau is hoping to raise $500 for funding one week's worth of healthy snacks.
The organization provides afterschool programming for Cape Girardeau youth.
Here is a link to the Groupon page where donations can be made and a full description of the campaign is available.
Boys and Girls Club director VickI Lawson said the campaign has only three days left, and the organization has to "sell" 100 of the $5 Groupons or reaps no benefit.
Enrollment in the Boys and Girls Club has grown the past few years as an increasing number of families struggle to afford afterschool care. Take a look at a story we did in January http://www.semissourian.com/story/180316... to learn more.
