NBC'S Brian Williams Joins the "Liberal Liar's Club"
My heart aches when I think of all the traumatic situations NBC's Brian Williams found himself in as a war correspondent and television news journalist. Surely, he must be suffering from PTSD, post traumatic stress disorder.
We can only imagine what it's like to be trapped in a Chinook helicopter taking on enemy fire in Iraq, with rocket-propelled grenades whizzing by, and you realize this may be your final moments on earth. Just read this one excerpt from a 2005 interview with Tim Russert. His recollection is so vivid and Shakespearian.
"The helicopter in front of us was hit. A pickup truck stopped on the road, pulled a tarp back; a guy got up, fired an RPG, rocket-propelled grenade. These were farmers, or so they seemed. And it beautifully pierced the tail rotor of the Chinook in front of us."
Wow. That gives me goose bumps. In a 2013 interview with Alec Baldwin, Brian Williams said he "briefly" thought he might die. And here we thought Chris Kyle was an American hero.
While covering the conflict in Israel in 2006, our noble NBC news correspondent escaped death once again, when Katyusha rockets barely missed another helicopter Brian was in.
But probably the most harrowing Brian William's story was his experience covering the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.
Can you imagine what it's like to be sitting in your hotel room in the French Quarter, just trying to enjoy a morning breakfast by your hotel window, as a dead body floats by, face down in the flooded street? This is not something a news anchor, making $10 million a year, should be subjected to.
In addition to that mental atrocity, Mr. Williams had to avoid violent criminal gangs roaming the hotel hallways, while at the same time, fight off a case of dysentery he contracted after he said he accidentally drank some flood water. His heroism is undeniable.
Brian Williams has definitely earned his place among the elite of the "Liberal Liars Club."
His story is just one of many. Let us never forget the heroics of Hillary Clinton, while visiting Bosnia in 1996, had to run for her life as sniper bullets filled the air.
Her husband, Bill, was pretty good with the falsehoods too. Remember Monica Lewinsky? He pointed his finger at the American people and swore he never had sexual relations with that woman, yet we later learned there was a sexual relation's stain on one of Monica's dresses.
But the president of this Liberal Liar's Club will never be replaced, because his lie adversely affected millions of American citizens. Yes, Barack Obama's, "If you like your health care plan, you can keep your health care plan." That's one for the ages. Matter of fact, Burger King, upon Obama's retirement in 2017, should rename the Double Whopper, the Obama Burger.
