"Obama Reality TV"--Starring a Disconnected President.
Let's not talk politics for a moment. No matter what your political affiliation may be, I would hope we could all agree the office of the President of the United States deserves to be respected, and above all, should be embraced with dignity and honor. Every move made by President Obama, and every word he utters, is a reflection of the United States and its citizens, and is reported worldwide.
At a time when dangerous terrorists are being released from Gitmo, the U.S.-backed government of Yemen is being overthrown by Iranian-backed rebels, and Western civilization is being confronted by Islamic radicals, what does President Obama and his staff do? They decide this would be the perfect moment in history to have YouTube star, GloZell Green, interview the leader of the free world. This can only happen with this administration.
This is a president who sees himself as the star of an eight-year reality show, where anything goes, as he continually shocks us all with his disconnect to the real world and the optics of his office.
After France had their version of 9/11, and invited over forty heads of state to march in solidarity for freedom, where was the President of the United States? He was busy at the White House watching the NFL playoffs, and did not have the instincts of a world leader, to at least send a high-ranking member of his administration.
A week later, he sends John Kerry and James Taylor to Paris to offer America's apologies for our country's indifference, in what turned out to be a high-school-like display of the Amateur Hour.
As a crowd of survivors, first responders, and family members looked on, John Kerry gave the French President an unwanted, and very awkward hug, followed by a 3-minute, solo performance of "You've got a Friend", by the aging 70's star, James Taylor. What a diplomatic moment in history.
President Obama is just a natural when it comes to displaying American integrity and compassion. In September, after giving his condolences to the parents of beheaded journalist, James Foley, and to a nation in mourning, Obama was seen laughing and smiling in his golf cart, only minutes later.
That moment reminded me of his actions on the day of the Fort Hood Massacre in 2009. His reaction on television was so unbelievably callous; you need to Google "Obama gives a shout out", to see and hear it again for yourself on YouTube.
The television screen said, "Twelve dead, at least 31 hurt, at Fort Hood." Two-and-a-half hours had passed since the shooting, as Americans awaited their president's response. The setting was a Washington conference for Native American Indians.
President Obama, the Commander-in-Chief of our armed forces, stood in front of the cameras and talked for TWO MINUTES, giving shout outs and compliments to his Cabinet members, before he ever uttered a single word about the Fort Hood massacre, or gave any condolences to the military families who had seen their loved ones slaughtered, just hours before. It was the most disrespectful act I've ever seen from an American president.
This is the same president that dishonored his office by taking a "selfie" of himself with the Prime Ministers of Britain and Denmark--during the memorial service for Nelson Mandela in 2013. Once again, he showed total disregard for the office he was elected to. Our celebrity president forgot he was at a memorial service, and behaved like a teenager, for the entire world to see.
And this is the same president that retired to his living quarters at the White House on the night of the Benghazi attack, which killed an ambassador and three American heroes. The next morning, he was on Air Force One, and on his way to Las Vegas for a campaign rally.
Stay tuned--there's more to come. You know there's got to be something to top the GloZell Green interview, as our president remains disconnected. "Obama Reality TV" has been renewed for two more years.
