"Democrat Dorothy" Awakens from Six-Year Coma!

Dorothy......You're no longer in the same America.

Six years ago, while attending an "Obama for President" rally, Dorothy, a local Democrat chairwoman, suddenly collapsed while screaming "Yes We Can" with a frenzied crowd in St. Louis. She was rushed to Barnes-Jewish Hospital where specialists confirmed she had suffered a subdural hemorrhage of the brain, which resulted in a coma. That was 2008, and now the confused wife and mother lies in her hospital bed, surrounded by family, shocked that it's the year 2014.

"Where am I?" she asks. Her husband now has the difficult task of bringing Dorothy up to date on the many changes in their lives.

"You're in a long-term care facility located just outside St. Louis. I lost my defense contracting job with Boeing two years ago due to the down-sizing of the American military and I had to eventually sell our home to make ends meet. After my Boeing insurance plan expired last year, I signed up for insurance through an Obama Care exchange, but Barnes Hospital was not included in our network. We lost our family doctor and access to the Barnes' specialists, and you were transferred to this clinic. Once you're home, and we have the time, I'll explain how our government now mandates what's included in every American's health insurance policy. You won't be happy with what Obama and your Democrat Party did."

A puzzled Dorothy continues with her questions. "What about our daughter? Was she able to attend college?"

"Yes. She's got a mountain of school debt but our daughter graduated last year with a Bachelor of Science degree in business management. Unfortunately, she hasn't been able to find a good job in her field and she's working at a mall in retail sales. Many of her friends who graduated with her are also searching for jobs. The nation's economy is still struggling and hasn't provided enough opportunities for recent college grads. Like our daughter, one in three graduates is now living back home with their parents."

Dorothy continues to seek information. "Where do we live now and how have we managed financially since you lost your job?"

"We live in an apartment complex just ten minutes from here. Our daughter's job is close by and she commutes to work with a friend to save on gas. Gas has doubled in price since 2008. I was fortunate enough to get the job of apartment manager where we live so I'll be able to assist you at home until you regain your health. It's tough, but we've adjusted to our new lifestyle."

Dorothy's husband smiles and continues, "Most Americans are learning to live with less now. Politicians say the recession ended in 2009 but it doesn't feel like it. I know many people who have to work two part-time jobs to survive. Grocery prices have really sky-rocketed in the last few years, too. People now joke about having to put roasts and steaks in layaway so they can make payments."

Dorothy works up a small grin and says, "Well as soon as I'm able, I'll return to my job at the Hostess bakery and we'll get back on our feet."

Dorothy's husband reluctantly replies, "The Hostess bakery you worked at went out of business two years ago. Hostess was bought out by another company, but your store was never reopened."

Dorothy, frustrated now, asks her husband, "What has happened in America? So much has changed."

"Unfortunately, the "hope and change" we all fell for in 2008 was just another political slogan. Obama has been the most liberal, partisan president I've seen in our lifetime. His policies have resulted in the slowest economic recovery since World War II. We have the lowest labor participation rate since the Carter administration in 1979, and over 47 million Americans are now on welfare."

Dorothy, in a cautious, quiet voice, looks at her husband and asks, "What about my father. I remember he was in poor health when all this happened to me?"

"God bless his soul. Your father is now with your mom in heaven. I'm so sorry you have to learn of his passing this way, but he was buried with full military honors. You would have been so proud of your father. He never complained about his illness but continually asked about you. He had a setback with his cancer shortly after your admission to the hospital, and died three months later. He was unable to get an appointment with the cancer specialist at the Veterans Hospital in time and never received any treatments."

With tears now streaming, Dorothy could barely speak. "Why? Why couldn't they try to save my dad? I'm so confused. I just don't understand."

In a comforting voice, Dorothy's husband consoles his wife. "Honey, your dad's case is one of hundreds that are now being investigated by the government. The V.A., as it turns out, had its share of incompetence and corruption, but Congress recently passed legislation to totally reform the Veterans Administration. Even in death, you can take solace in knowing your father's case will help millions of other veterans in the future."

Dorothy sits up, crosses her arms, and almost in an angry voice, demands to know more. "How can something like this happen in America? I'm so disappointed. That's why I got involved in Obama's campaign six years ago. He promised to change Washington and make government more transparent and efficient. What else has happened? And don't hold anything back."

Dorothy's husband takes a deep breath, and once again gives his wife a little smile. "Honey what I'm about to tell you is so unbelievable, you'll think I'm making it all up. But here are a few headlines about your new America."

"Our government now spies on its own people. Without our knowledge, the U.S. government had been secretly collecting the phone records of millions of ordinary citizens and has conducted warrantless searches of the content of Americans' personal communications."

"The Director of the CIA just last month publicly apologized to the nation and admitted his agency had been illegally spying on staffers in the U.S. Senate."

"The free press has also come under attack by the Obama Administration. The Justice Department secretly obtained two months of phone records from the Associated Press, and in another case, the DOJ obtained a secret search warrant for the personal emails of a television reporter. A New York Times reporter is currently being threatened with jail time if he doesn't reveal a news source. James Risen, the reporter, called this administration the greatest threat to freedom of the press in a generation."

"Last year it was discovered the most feared agency of the federal government--the IRS--had been targeting conservative opponents of President Obama in an attempt to silence their political speech. Lois Lerner, a high-level administrator in the IRS pleaded the Fifth, and was held in contempt of Congress for refusing to cooperate with the investigation."

"Your Democrat-led government fears no rule of law. Two years ago the House voted 255-67, including 17 Democrats, to hold Attorney General Eric Holder in contempt of Congress for refusing to provide information about a secret government operation called "Fast and Furious." It was the first time in American history a current sitting cabinet member was found in contempt.

"Just last month, the Republican-led Congress passed a resolution to sue President Obama over claims he has abused his Constitutional powers by changing written law without Congressional approval. Since 2012, the United States Supreme Court has ruled unanimously 13 times against the Obama Administration over numerous issues including freedom of religion, property rights, the Fourth Amendment and the abuse of executive power."

Dorothy tries to produce a laugh as she suddenly interrupts her husband, "Ok, Ok...I plead guilty of being an Obama supporter! I was wrong like millions of others--BUT--BUT--I would be willing to bet the world is a more peaceful place. Obama was definitely anti-war. Am I right dear?"

"No Dorothy, you would be wrong. Yes, President Obama did withdraw all troops from Iraq, as promised, but his foreign policy for the past six years has been to withdraw from the world stage and let countries handle their own problems. As I speak, Israel and Hamas are at war again--Syria has been in a civil war for three years now--Egypt's government has been overthrown twice--Russia has invaded the sovereign nation of Ukraine--Iraq has been invaded by a radical Muslim army called ISIS and has massacred thousands--Libya is in a civil war with radical militants--China is threatening to seize territory in the South China Sea--Christians are being persecuted in over 100 countries...."

"Ok--enough already--you win!" Dorothy interrupts her husband. "Life was much less stressful in my coma. I can see now---I'm no longer in the same America." THE END
