Did President Obama Actually Say He Had a PEN and a THRONE?
Maybe we just misunderstood his proclamation about bypassing Congress with his pen and phone. It's conceivable his inner circle of advisors and adoring media buddies have truly convinced our president he's blessed with king-like powers. I do recall Obama telling the president of France back in February; "That's the good thing about being president. I can do anything I want."
Being America's first king can be troublesome though when our constitution forbids it. And who would know better than President Obama--he brags about having taught the constitution for 10 years. But, time and time again, the former professor keeps sweeping the constitution under the Oval Office rug.
Recently, the Supreme Court ruled 9-0 that President Obama overstepped his authority in 2012 when he unilaterally declared Congress to be in recess, and appointed three new members to the National Labor Relations Board. The move was declared unconstitutional, but that's nothing new for our imperial leader. According to Senator Ted Cruz, who's been keeping Obama's unconstitutional scorecard, that's the 12th time since 2012, the president and his Department of Justice have been rebuked by the courts.
For this president, checks and balances are just a necessary political irritant. Obama no longer fears the judicial system and since his re-election, he has publicly announced he can rule without the legislative branch.
Everything our Harvard-educated leader does is cleverly calculated and orchestrated. Even with numerous controversies swirling non-stop around his presidency, he smiles--looks the camera in the eye--and proclaims he's the victim of "fabricated issues" and "phony scandals." His quote, "If you like your healthcare plan, you can keep it", is another in a long line of royal mistruths.
Every national poll shows the American people no longer trust this president and this government, but once again he cares not how angry his subjects may get. Even the isolated cries for "impeachment" only humor our ruler. Who in Congress would dare have the courage to attempt impeachment proceedings against America's first African-American president? The odds are better that Joe Biden is discovered to be the secret president of the Mensa Society.
Republicans may well win back the Senate in November, but with his golden veto pen and executive order pad in hand, Obama's transformation of America will continue. If the Democrats win in 2016, our democracy will be redefined forever--"Of the Government--by the Government--for the Government."
