Last Day to Vote in Train ContestPosted Monday, January 17, 2011, at 11:21 AM
Today is the last day of voting in Union Pacific's Great Excursion Adventure "You Route the Steam" competition.
Cape Girardeau is on the path of one of four proposed railroad routes to be traveled this summer by Union Pacific's steam powered locomotive. The route with the most online votes will be selected and right now, our route, The Little Rock Express, is just a little behind with 63,139 votes compared to the Tuscola Turn with 63,229 votes.
The Little Rock Express, starts in Kansas City, then the route travels east to Boonville, Mo.; Jefferson City, Charnois and St. Louis, before heading south to Cape Girardeau and onward through Dexter and Poplar Bluff, then on to Bald Knob and Little Rock, Ark.
