The new Candlewood Suites hotel now under construction at 485 S. Mount Auburn Rd., in Cape Girardeau, will open to guests June 3.
The property is owned by Premier Management Inc. (PMI) of Farmington, Mo. The company currently operates 8 hotels and has two under construction. In addition to its new site in Cape Girardeau, PMI is also building a Hampton Inn in Farmington, Mo. set to open in July.
Candlewood Suites will be the first extended-stay hotel in the Cape Girardeau area, said Nicola Arnold, general manager.
The new hotel will create about 20 jobs ranging from housekeepers to front desk clerks to maintenance staff.
"The community was definitely in need of an extended stay hotel to meet medical and industry needs that are growing in Cape Girardeau," said Scott Perry, regional director of operations with PMI.
Its one- and two-bedroom suites include fully equipped kitchens with refrigerators, dishwashers, microwaves and stovetops. The kitchens also have a variety of dishes cookware and utensils.
Some suites have a separate office, living room and bedroom areas.
The 85-room hotel is pet-friendly. It offers high-speed Internet access, free local calls and DVD players in each room.
