Today I checked with several local travel agencies and none of them reported working with any clients who are currently stranded.
However, millions of people are experiencing delays and canceled flights as a result of this unusual weather phenomenon resulting after the Eyjafjallajokull Volcano erupted April 13 under a glacier in southern Iceland.
Carolyn Kempf of Elite Travel in Cape Girardeau said this is her third experience with airport delays as a result of volcanic ash. The first occurred when she was working as a travel agent in Portland, Ore. The second, several years ago, did impact a group of her travelers who got stuck in Cancun, Mexico for two extra days. That doesn't sound so bad to me....
She warns incidents like the ash plume now impacting European travel is just one example of why purchasing trip insurance is a good idea.
