Cape County Commission action

The commisisoners have unanimously approved an ordinance requiring training for people who work with food in restaurants, grocery stores and stands.
Agreement on the ordinance took more than a year to hammer out. Cape Girardeau County Health department director Charlotte Craig said the ordinance is 10 years in the making. Now the commission has resumed budget hearings, suspended last month because there was not a clear 2009 revenue projection available in September and October. No decisions were made on the budget today, though the commissioners perused proposed budgets for the assessor, prosecuting attorney, collector and recorder offices; office holders were not present. It appears the only increase is in payroll costs (overall, I don't have all the same copies given to the commisisioners, but will get them shortly) . Budget hearings will resume at 12:30 p.m. Friday and continue at 9 a.m. Wednesday at the county administration building, 1 Barton Square in Jackson.
