It's a business that's changing and it's changing fast!  Not only are high paid news anchors a thing of the past, but the "LIVE Truck" could be on its way out the door.  Nowadays you don't need a big "LIVE truck" and photojournalist to go LIVE.  WTSP-TV anchor/reporter Janie Porter proved that on Monday.  Porter set up her own camera, opened her laptop, connected the camera to her computer, slipped a wireless connection card into her laptop, called up Skype and used her Blackberry to establish IFB (the device TV folks wear in their ears to hear the off-air signal).  Click HERE to read the complete article.  I've been in the braodcasting industry for about 10 years and this is the direction I've been heading since day one.  I enjoy being a backpack journalist!  It's the future of broadcasting and you can expect more of this technology with Hooked on Science.  Look for more LIVE coverage of big science events from across the nation in 2009 at www.hookedonscience.org.  What do you think…is this a good direction for broadcasting?Source:  ShopTalk
