The Joy of Being a Database Troll
It's probably the geek in me, but I just love trolling through databases. I love to look at data and uncover some hidden truth that The Man doesn't want you to see.
In the past, when I uncovered some truth that wasn't meant to be found, I would jump up with my index finger in the air and yell "Aha! I know the truth!"
And that, was usually the end of that.
Oh sure, I might have shared the hunk of intelligence with my wife and our cat, but their usually response would be "I see, dear" and "meow," respectively.
But now I have a blog. So I can share any findings I find. Hot dog!
Of course, some data is not always easily browsed or easily analyzed. Often times The Man likes to make the data available in such away that it is not easy to analyze. And Joe User (second cousin to Joe The Plumber twice removed) doesn't know any better.
He looks at the data, is overwhelmed by what he sees and goes back to watching Survivor.
But I'm no Joe User. I'm a little more like Joe The Plumber - if his name was actually Joe and he was actually a plumber.
Like any good plumber, when I see a foul smelling pile of information, I don't look at it as a problem, but as a challenge. How can I clean this mess up? How can I bring order to chaos. Why, with my trusty plunger of course!
OK, forgive me. I think I've taken that plumbing allegory about as far as it can go.
Anyhow, the point is I enjoy dredging through data looking for nuggets of information which I'm willing to share with any readers out there.
That includes my wife. And our cat, if she's not too busy watching Survivor.
