We ain't got many hills in Memphis. We ain't got no stop lights in Crockett County. If you're wondering where I'm going with this, I blame those two factors - and the sleet - for the wreck I had last Thursday.
Yep. Headed to Jackson, coming off a hill the truck in front of me stopped, but I just couldn't. Brakes, brakes, brakes "explitive deleted" (OK, several "explitives deleted") and bam. Crunched up car for one? Oh, right here! That's me, thanks. The car miraculously still runs, but it drew terrified looks from traffic companions when I drove it to the collision center Friday. It's one of those cars you see at the stop light, and you tap your passenger and nod while trying to be nonchalant. Then after the poor, crunched up car passes you share an astonished conversation about how in the world it still runs or what the crap happened. That was me this time. Lay off. It was raining. And I don't know how it runs either. Luckily my Local is letting me borrow his car until I either get a rental, get mine back or, gulp, get a new one. Thank you JPD for sending a very nice officer who made sure that I would call and have him pick me up if the car died in transit. And thank you L for being so nice. I'm sorry I hit you. Chris Harris is a near-nomad who came to Cape Girardeau in June of 2007 from Memphis by way of Kentucky. She graduated from the University of Memphis in 2006 and is a Memphis Tiger fan learning to love MIZZOU. She likes traveling, talking to people and challenging people to Thumb War. Her dry and ironic sense of humor don't always compute in type, so don't take things too personally.

Sorry to hear about your accident but am glad you're okay. The rainy, foggy weather we've had lately makes for lots of accidents, but it sure beats ice!
...just a reminder, the pedal on the left is for the brakes--it's what makes a vehicle stop ...just kidding !
please tell me you weren't on the cell phone.....
Nope, no cell phone, not even a sing along to the radio. Just plain ole bad luck.
yes , the right pedal is the left pedal.
cell phones are a pet peeve of mine . i just assumed an attract young lady as yourself would be a cell phone phonetic .
