A Rose by any other name is Beacon.
Since 1987, the agency I have had the honor of running, has been called the Southeast Missouri Network Against Sexual Violence often shortened to NASV. The name of the agency served its purpose in that it right up front stated that sexual violence exists, it exists in southeast Missouri and many of us are working to address its many causes and effects.
Since 1987 much has changed in our world, even here in our neck of the woods, and the agency and board felt it was time for us to change as well. As of March 30th the agency is now called Beacon Health Center. The name is reflective of the work we have done and will continue to do regarding the issue of sexual violence (counseling, advocacy, forensics and prevention), the work of being a "light", a "guiding light" at times of darkness in a victim's life.
The Beacon name was also chosen to represent the expansion of services such as counseling for the general public for issues that would prompt one to call any therapist, and offering basic health services for our clients.
The agency also will soon be opening a facility in Benton and we have a counseling office in Perryville at Immediate Health Care.
So as we grow and expand we will stay committed to quality customer care...that will never change.
Namaste,
Tammy
