Among my other duties as librarian at the Southeast Missourian, I compile the Out of the Past column that is published in the newspaper and appears daily on this page.
Condensing items for 25, 50, 75 and 100 years ago to a single sentence to fit space limitations can be difficult, sometimes impossible. Some stories are just too complicated to use, no matter how interesting or entertaining.
This blog space will allow me to expand on some of those stories.
