Fairground Park 1939

Posted Friday, September 18, 2015, at 12:07 AM

This picture of Fairground Park in 1939, renamed Capaha Park in 1948, was probably taken by G.D. Fronabarger. It was made from Southeast Hospital hill, looking northeast.

The picture shows the old grandstand, with baseball diamond in front of it. South and west of the grandstand are tennis courts and the lagoon. At left is Cherry Hill.

In center foreground, a filling station is at the corner of Broadway and Perry Ave.
