Aug. 24, 1975 Southeast Missourian
City police conducted another speedometer check in the 1300 block of North Sprigg Saturday. They had help this time from Miss Karen Steinhoff, above left, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jon L. Steinhoff, and Jon Mark Kasten, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Kasten, both members of the Law Enforcement Explorer Post 10-4. The explorers received the results from Ptlm. Dale Ratliff, below, who used a speedgun to check each vehicle's rate of travel. Miss Cindy Haupt, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Haupt, keeps a record of each car for Ptlm. Ratliff. Each participating motorist was instructed to drive through the zone at exactly 30 miles per hour. Their actual speed was written on the chalkboard so they did not have to stop after the speed check.
