Fred Lynch retired in 2018 after capturing images for the Southeast Missourian since 1975, in that time moving from black-and-white to color, from film to digital and to video. The blog title is a nod to an earlier era of news photography and the 4x5 Speed Graphic: It's more important to be there for the shot than to worry about technical details.

Grand Opening Sale for Girardeau Store

A grand opening sale of the Thompson TV, Appliance & Furniture Co. is in progress at the new location, 605 Good Hope, and according to Clarence Thompson, owner and manager, will continue until 9 Saturday night. Thompson stated after eight years in the TV and appliance business at 505 Broadway, he remodeled and redecorated the place known for 50 years as the Ruh's Market. The Thompson family has been in the merchandising business in Cape Girardeau for 32 years.
