Shocks of barley

June 18, 1956 Southeast Missourian

A scene soon to vanish. Even today a field of shocks of grain is a virtual novelty, since combines have moved in and almost taken over the harvest picture in this area. But this scene, showing a field of shocked barley on the T.J. Miller & Sons farm north of Oak Ridge, is one of the few such in Cape County. In the background is wheat, to be harvested within a week.
