Some of the thousands of automobiles using the parking area at the Town Plaza Shopping Center are shown in this picture at mid-afternoon Thursday, the center's opening day. At times the lot was filled, and the largest crowd was present Thursday night when parking overflowed onto streets. Officials of the center estimated that during the day around 25,000 or 30,000 persons visited the new retail facility on William street. (G.D. Fronabarger photo)
