Jan. 16, 1958 Southeast Missourian

Clarence Schilling, at left, newly named acting superintendent of Trail of Tears State Park north of Cape Girardeau, Tuesday conferred with Roscoe C. Collier, chief engineer for the Missouri State Park Board, on the Moccasin Springs road inside the park area and wonders when the weather will ever permit construction work on the park to begin. Clyde Kelsey, operator, awaits on a bulldozer, the first piece of equipment moved in to begin the work. In the background, an old dwelling is being renovated to serve as a temporary residence for the park superintendent until a new permanent structure can be built. (G.D. Fronabarger photo)
