Fred Lynch retired in 2018 after capturing images for the Southeast Missourian since 1975, in that time moving from black-and-white to color, from film to digital and to video. The blog title is a nod to an earlier era of news photography and the 4x5 Speed Graphic: It's more important to be there for the shot than to worry about technical details.

Gun Show at Arena Building

The Cape Girardeau Junior Chamber of Commerce, the Jaycees, sponsored its first annual gun show at the Arena Building on Saturday and Sunday, Jan. 30-31, 1960 which G.D. Fronabarger photographed. A similar photo was published on Monday in the Southeast Missourian.

The caption noted the event brought collectors and dealers to the show with a display of guns valued at many thousands of dollars. Various events, such as a fast-draw contest, were held.
