Southeast Missourian, Dec. 27, 1957

This Central High School cheering section indicates what a unanimous attention-getter is this game of basketball, especially when kids are at that age they go all out for the sport. It was in Houck Field House on Thursday night, initial stage of the Preps Holiday Tournament. Expressions vary from the highest pitch of enthusiasm to the "Oh, well. They scored again." (G.D. Everyone looks like they could be related. Strange that every girl and boy seems to have the same hair style and casual attire.

Fred Lynch has captured images for the Southeast Missourian since 1975, in that time moving from black-and-white to color, from film to digital and to video. The blog title is a nod to an earlier era of news photography and the 4x5 Speed Graphic: It's more important to be there for the shot than to worry about technical details.
