Fred Lynch retired in 2018 after capturing images for the Southeast Missourian since 1975, in that time moving from black-and-white to color, from film to digital and to video. The blog title is a nod to an earlier era of news photography and the 4x5 Speed Graphic: It's more important to be there for the shot than to worry about technical details.

Midweek Mystery: Frony's Shadow

We don't know anyone in this group, but we can certainly identify the shadow.

G.D. Fronabarger could not avoid the sun behind him as he took the picture in front of the Hotel Marquette on Broadway in Cape Girardeau. The date is unknown.

From the argyle sweaters, cardigans and BrylCreme I'd guess the late 50's or early 60's.

Most of the guys look Hispanic. Kind of odd. Must have been a club or visiting group.
