Britney won't "Gimme More" to VMAs

Remember Britney's big comeback at the VMAs a year ago? The one that was going to put an end to all her troubles and let her reclaim the title of pop's reigning princess? The one that was hyped for weeks before the show as she worked with magician Criss Angel? Rember that one? Where she, ahem, unenthusiastically strutted her stuff in a barely there black get-up as dancers writhed around her and MTV showed shots of celebs in the crowd looking dumbfounded. Yeah...well, despite rumors of a chance for Britney's redemption, her manager announced this week that Miss Spears will not be performing. I (Heather) am kinda glad. Last year's performance was so jaw-droppingly abysmal, I think it's best Britney just stay in the studio, work on her album and give us more time to erase the unforgetable (for all the wrong reasons) performance of "Gimme More" that left viewers saying "NO MORE! PLEASE!" Britney has appeared with British comic and VMA host Russell Brand in some spots to promote the show, so maybe she'll end up as a presenter. The show airs Sept. 7 (and for weeks and months thereafter I'm sure) on MTV, so set your TiVo to find out what happens. Kelly Taylor and Brenda Walsh make nice And so do their portrayers, Jennie Garth and Shannen Doherty, on the set of "90210" and in an interview with Entertainment Weekly. The original cast members of "Beverly Hills, 90210" both have roles on the CW's new spin on the '90s' classic. For those who don't remember: Doherty left the show 1994 in a cloud of diva-like behavior after feuding with cast members and producers. Castmate Tori Spelling even claimed in her autobiograhy, "sTORI Telling" that Garth and Doherty came to blows on the set, a story both deny. Nevertheless, both actresses said there were some nerves at the prospect of being reunited for the first time in almost 15 years. "There had been so much buildup," Garth said in the interview. "Everyone was asking me before what it was going to be like. I was like, 'I don't know. I haven't talked to her in 10 or 15 years.' I had that tension and I started to let it get to me. Is she going to be nice? Is it going to be a bad environment? But when I saw her everything was fine." Doherty said "there were nerves going in," but she aimed to start fresh and move forward. Awww...it's sweet. They were able to make nice. And apparently, their characters get along, too. Brenda even baby-sits for Kelly's kid. Now...wonder what would happen if Luke Perry's Dylan joined the show? Something I think the producers should consider for those of us who grew up with the orignial "Beverly Hills, 90210." As for the new version, I haven't decided if I'll give it a chance. If you want to check it out, it premeires Sept. 2 on The CW. |
Working in a newsroom, we get our fill each week of politics, economics and the fickle Southeast Missouri weather. Reading the paper for eight hours a night can be draining, so in our downtime we spend countless hours (countless, of course, because we¹ve never bothered to count them) indulging our guilty pleasures: reading about Britney Spears (sorry, we just can't leave her alone!), surfing Internet gossip sites (apparently Amy Winehouse is going to launch her own line of beauty products -- no joke), watching reality TV (why are none of the Real Housewives actual housewives?) and keeping up with our favorite pop-culture trends (gotta love those celebrity couple nicknames). Now we're sharing our love of celebrity scandal and gossip with you.
