Mario's Pasta House opening in December

Posted Thursday, November 12, 2009, at 6:13 AM

Mario Grippo is bringing his brand of pasta and pizza back to Jackson.

He plans to open Mario's Pasta House by December. Located in the former Sidetracks location at 252 E. Jackson Blvd., the restaurant will serve stromboli and pizza but will specialize in a variety of pasta dishes. The pizza will have a thin, flaky crust, unlike what is served in Mario's Italian Grill in Marble Hill, Mo.

Grippo - who used to own a restaurant in uptown Jackson in the early 1990s - said the establishment will be open 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday, won't serve alcohol and will not allow smoking.

Yea! I've been waiting for something other than Mex, Chinese and BBQ.

Which restaurant did he own in Jackson in the early 90s? I can't seem to remember it at all...

Dang, too bad it wont be like that of Marble Hill, but nonetheless I am sure it will be just as good!! Was he located off of Old Cape Road previously in the 90's?

And the sign on the building where he will be located says now open.......

hey oakridge...are you thinking of that Breadeaux Pizza joint? The pizza was good but it always smelled like a propane leak in there.

Was that spot in uptown at the old Dollar General Store location, then it became a coffe house of some sort? Early hours, no alcohol, no easy access...Hope it goes well.

Nope it was in the building next to the Cashbook Journal. The building that recently for a short while held Gunners General store and Bail Bonds. He had this business with his mom who helped him. it was called Marios pizza and Subs. However the Stromboli was the bomb!!!!! He made everything just about from scratch. I wonder if this location will deliver like his last Jackson one did??? Good Luck!!!!! I have really missed that Stromboli!!!!:)
