Trip to Marble Hill longer than expected Last night my wife and I decided to take our first trip to Marble Hill. Being fairly new to the area, I wanted to see what the town and business community were like. And since I am the business reporter, I felt it only proper to visit one of the restaurants for supper.
A quick glimpse at the map earlier in the day had me going Highway 72. About the time we passed Patton and saw signs that indicated we weren't that far from Fredericktown, I knew something was wrong. Being a guy and not wanting to admit I was lost, I asked my wife to check our location on the atlas and see how close we were from Marble Hill (knowing that we weren't close in proximity). After pulling over to the side of the road and finding the right way we were supposed to go, our journey took us down a beautiful and winding Highway 51. By the time we arrived in Marble Hill, it was a bit too dark to actually take in much scenery. At least we enjoyed our trip down there and a great meal at Jer's restaurant. I'm traveling to the town Thanksgiving weekend for their Christmas festival and hope to check out more of the town. Maybe I'll post more thoughts of the town then. But you can rest assured I'll get directions beforehand. Comments Showing comments in chronological order [Show most recent comments first] |

Get yourself a GPS.
Obviously there's some truth to the joke that the 'N' displayed outside a major university in Lincoln is believed to stand for 'Nowledge.
Since we have one individual who is hell bent of buying up all the buildings and letting them set in waste and ruins I doubt if you will enjoy your visit.

A GPS may make for a great Christmas present. With a kid on the way, that extra cash will be a luxury come next year.
And blogbudsman, that is not the first time I've heard that joke. I have many more about Nebraska, Missouri and others we could have some good fun with. E-mail me anytime with your funny jokes and we'll have a great time laughing at ourselves. After all, if we can't do that, then what fun is there in life?
Next visit try Mario's Pizza - they have great food, a lot of it, and for very reasonable prices. One of their famous Stromboli can feed both my husband and I for two meals!
farmwife,
We actually had a write-up about Mario's in selive. Here's the link: www.semissourian.com/article/20081009/ARTS01/710099970
I hadn't heard any Missouri jokes. Will you share?
