Do you have a purpose for your life?
Do you have a definition of what success is to you? Hopefully you have a picture of what you desire in your mind. I can tell you that in order to feel successful and happy, you must have a purpose.
When you have a goal to work toward, you gain new energy and happiness. Your energy spirals and blood rushes through your veins. A few years ago, I felt bored and like I was merely treading water in life. My purposes wasn't being accomplished. I wasn't sure what my purpose was, but I felt depressed and like life was not worth living. This feeling didn't reach the degrees of my wanting to end my life, but I felt adamantly unsettled and frustrated.
My saving grace in that scenario was when I volunteered to direct the religion classes at my church. After I began my mission, which is what I felt the job was, I became overjoyed and full of energy. I cannot tell you how fulfilled I became. I now had a purpose that I felt was important. I enjoyed the interactions I had with the various people I dealt with, and my feeling of leadership.
Ever since that incident I've realized that I must keep a mission in front of me. I have to be looking forward and feeling as if I'm contributing to life and using my God-given gifts. I feel like a success.
Success means different things to different people. My criterion of it has nothing to do with anything material. It relates to relationships and a worthy purpose or goal.
What does success mean to you and what is your purpose, if you have one.?
