Keep what's in your mind calm
You have to keep your wits about you before you can accomplish anything! Good day, it's great to be back with my audience.
Yesterday was a particularly trying day for me. It seems that so many things have been going wrong, recently. At least that's the way I perceived the issues.
The young 12 year old who lives with my husband and I had been particularly trying. He has many issues anyway that I can't touch on publically. Anyway, I had become more flustered as last week wore on.
I like the freedom to move about and do as I like with my time, and with the type of work I do, that has usually been possible. I can gauge my jobs around and within the other parts of my life.
However this had not been the case recently. The two kids who live with me had been home from school a lot, it seemed, and I can't allow children to just float around on their own. So this scenario took up much of my freedom because I felt tied-down in trying to see that they were not bored and were using their time constructively.
Other situations have been arising that are unpleasant, at least to that space within my mind. And everything, worry or thought occurs within our minds.
What made me decide that I had to take control of how I was allowing my thoughts to wander was that I was becoming angry at how things were going, and then, somewhat depressed. I knew this couldn't continue. The people around me weren't likely to change. I couldn't do anything much about what had happened, except learn from it-- everything has something to teach you, so I had better take responsibility for how I was feeling.
First of all, I calmed myself down within, quit stewing and fretting, and drew on Scripture where it advised you to place your worries on God and He would sustain you. There are many in the Bible.
Everybody experiences times in life where it seems like everything you touch turns to dust. If you keep calm within your mind though, you will soon realize that your mind is exactly where the turbulence lies. When you become emotionally upset, take a moment, and talk to yourself or read some literature that has proven to help your spirits. Or you may need to talk to a spiritual director, pray, see a counselor, or talk with a friend. Whatever works for you, it's your responsibility to get yourself back on track and make sure it's in a constructive fashion.
Continuing to be angry or upset solves nothing, so do something, yourself, about your emotional upheaval that is positive. You will be surprised at the outcome. Self-pity is certainly so antidote.
Comment and tell me what you do to get out of the doldrums or an unhappy, upset, state of mind. Do you believe that you can control how you perceive what happens on the outside?
Take care and God Bless
