Christmas for the Elderly
Christmas trees have been decorated, lights adorn the porches of homes, and presents are being purchased and wrapped for giving to others; the Christmas season has arrived!
For some in our community, the holiday season is not a joyous time. Struggling to buy the most basic of living needs, pay the utility bills, or keep up with the costs of prescriptions, senior citizens often find themselves over-extended and lonely during this time of the year. With medical concerns looming and little to no family support, Christmas for the Elderly is designed to meet the needs of those who need assistance and provide holiday joy to those individuals.
Clothing to keep them warm, gift cards to area pharmacies to cover the rising costs of medications, towels, blankets, and bedding, pet supplies, basic toiletries and cleaning supplies top the list of needs for our Elderly. In the next few weeks to come, please watch the Southeast Missourian and the Jaycee Toybox Blog for specific needs and stories of the Elderly in need in our Community. Thank you for opening your hearts to them this holiday season.
