Ready or Not... Toybox Time!
It seems like just yesterday I was writing the first blog for the 2011 Toybox Season and now, here we are, a year later, ready to roll out Santa's sleigh once again! In it's 38th year of tradition in the community of Cape Girardeau, the Jaycee Toybox project services families and children to help bring joy under the tree on Christmas Day. The Toybox Project is bigger than the toys that are donated or purchased through the generosity of individuals and businesses; it is the spirit of Christmas. Toybox is about families reaching into their shallow pockets to give to others, businesses finding creative ways to give back to the community, and a sense of togetherness that comes during the holiday season when you reach out to those in need. Servicing over 400 families last year, the Toybox project touches the life of many children and families. Please add us to your Christmas list this year!
In addition to the Toybox project, we will continue our tradition of reaching out to senior citizens in need with our Christmas the Elderly program. In collaboration with the Division of Senior Services, individuals are identified based on financial need. Seniors are provided with basic, everyday needs through the generous outpouring from the Cape Girardeau and surrounding areas. In the spirit of the season, please consider participating in helping all those in need, old and young alike.
