Home for the Holidays
Mr. V wishes nothing more than to make it home for the holidays to visit his mother. Only one request is on his Christmas List...money and arrangements to go visit St. Louis where his family resides. Living alone with minimal income, he has no resources available to travel. With expenses from undergoing brain surgery in early fall, Mr. V struggles to make ends meet and a trip that many take for granted, is impossible for him to afford. The Cape Jaycees hope to make this happen for him this holiday season through Christmas for the Elderly.
A family of five lost their home this year to a house fire that destroyed their belongings but not their spirit. With high hopes to make the most of the situation, they are looking forward to the holiday season; spending time with one another and counting their blessings that they were able to safely escape the flames that swallowed their material possessions. "Gifts under the tree do not make the holiday, people do, but our children have lost so much and we want to make this Christmas special for them."
Under-insured as many individuals live today, toys for the children were not replaced as the family works to rebuild their home. Ten year-old, "Joey" wants a tee-ball set and enjoys building things. Seven year-old, "Carol" likes to play dress up and loves Disney Princesses and the family's newest member, age 1, likes music and blocks. In the spirit of giving, the Jaycee toybox hopes to bring joy to this family this holiday season.
