Missing Mom and Disabled Veteran Seek Holiday Joy
Christmas time is difficult on any family financially. For some, these troubles are multiplied by emotional distress. Ms. D is hoping to make Christmas extra special for five young children who will celebrate this year without their mother. She has opened her home to them when their mother was put in prison for a couple of years. Understanding that these kids have little understanding of where and why mom is gone, she is anticipating a particularly difficult season for them. From ages 9-2 months old, gifts such as Justin Bieber items, nail polish, and art sets are on their list. Additionally, a Barbie guitar, an MP3 player, talking ELMO, and a doll and stroller top their list for Santa. Knowing only that mom is not with them, Ms. D has opened her heart and home to these little ones. Your efforts can give her peace of mind in knowing that you have helped.
A Veteran from World War II, Mr. W lives alone with his cat. With no family to speak of, he depends on assistance from area in-home health care providers to care for his most basic needs. With high blood pressure and knees that make him immobile, he struggles with chores that we take for granted in our homes. Mr. W needs a jacket, size 40, for the cold winter months, queen size bedding, gift cards to Save A Lot and K-mart. He is thankful any assistance.
