And So it Begins...
Applications are coming in and boxes are in place in businesses around Cape Girardeau to kickoff our collection for the 37th annual Jaycee Toybox. As we begin our project this year, I find myself reflecting on Christmas as a child; the excitement that builds on Christmas Eve as you wait in anticipation for Santa's arrival, setting out cookies and milk for his midnight snack, and fighting to keep your eyes open in hopes of hearing or seeing the reindeer fly in. All children deserve to have these dreams kept alive on at Christmas and your participation and support of the Toybox project can make a difference.
Needs of the Toybox project include toys for children of all ages including:
*Sports balls and other equipment, requests for footballs, basketballs, soccer balls, and t-ball sets
*Dolls of all races and ages, including those without hard eyes appropriate for toddlers
*Arts and Crafts sets appropriate for girls ages 9-12
*Legos and other building sets
*Cars, remote control and Hot Wheels
*Music players, portable CD and boom boxes
*Baby toys, blocks, puzzles, and other learning toys
*Board games and books
*Monetary donations to cover the expense of additional purchases to meet individual needs
Specific needs and requests based on applicants will be published in upcoming editions of the Southeast Missouri. Please watch for these stories and I thank you in advance for your continued support!
