A Holiday Tradition
November is upon us and many have begun to think and prepare for the upcoming holiday season. Looking forward to time with family, good food, and the season of giving, I ask that you remember the children of the Jaycee Toybox this year. Each year, we reach out to more and more families who have the need and desire to make Christmas special for their little ones.
The Toybox project has been a tradition in the Cape Girardeau community for 36 years! I recall as a child, journeying down to the Southeast Missourian on Broadway to drop off our gifts for those in need. My mom would set aside an afternoon to take me and my brother and sister to select toys for other boys and girls who were unknown to us. It is a custom that taught me the true meaning of Christmas and helped me discover that giving is just as rewarding as receiving during this special time of the year. Today, I continue that tradition with my own children. So please, consider making Toybox part of your holiday tradition and put us on your Christmas list this year.
New toy donations are greatly appreciated at drop locations around town (please watch the Southeast Missourian for a complete list to be released soon).
Please direct all monetary donations to:
Cape Jaycees
Attn: Toybox
PO Box 4
Cape Girardeau, MO 63702
Or drop them off at the Southeast Missourian on Broadway.
Thank you for your generosity and continued support!
