Sorry,Palmer was scheduled to die about an hour and a half after I posted this entry. He was guilty of being a Pit Bull....
I have spent years working to educate and enlighten the general public to what an American Pit Bull Terrier is all about. This BLOG entry has been dedicated to sharing information and sometimes it has read like a diary entry but it has reached many people that would have otherwise had no clue about this much maligned breed.
We are in the days leading up to one of the most important elections in our history. To all those following my BLOG entries, I am now issuing a challenge. If you want to see change in the laws for Pit Bulls and all companion animals, get busy educating yourselves to those candidates that will hold the power to make these changes reality. Ask them questions about their stand on breed specific legislation, gas chambers being used for killing and strengthening the penalties for abuse. If they refuse to answer, you have the answer to your question. If they give you some canned speech about not being familiar with the issues, then take a moment to educate but hold them to their campaign promises. Your responsibility does not end when you cast your vote. Your responsibility begins there and it remains important until the reform you seek is realized.
I am providing links to help you educate yourselves. Hopefully, you will find some information that will aid you in this journey to involvement. If you honestly wish to see reform, I am proud to stand beside you. Election Day is November 6, 2012 and it always starts with one person!
Before you click on these links I will warn you, some of these are the reality of what far too many people close their eyes to...BSL is ugly, gas chambers are not humane and animal abuse is not being taken seriously. Rescuers, shelters and just plain ole pet owners face this every single day. It is time it stopped and it is time Missouri began leading this fight instead of sitting back and waiting to be shown.
